Community Engagement
Referred to as the North Star of E/BFSC, the Community Engagement Team connects with community partners, families, and residents to ensure our programs and services are responsive to the needs of those we serve. We take pride in being an active and visible presence in Wards 5 and 6.
Community Outreach
Meeting families where they are
The Community Engagement Team collaborates with partner organizations to conduct outreach, organize community events, and advocate for our shared mission and vision. Together, we work to support families and residents on their path toward self-sustainability, increased safety, and positive outcomes.

Partner Relations
Building a connected network of support
Strong partner relationships are essential to advancing our mission and expanding our impact in the communities we serve. We collaborate with local organizations, agencies, businesses, and community leaders to share resources, coordinate services, and create meaningful opportunities for families and residents.
Through these partnerships, we strengthen our collective ability to address community needs, promote safety and well-being, and support families on their path toward stability and self-sufficiency. By working together, we build a connected network of support that helps ensure lasting, positive outcomes for children, families, and neighborhoods across Wards 5 and 6.
Family Support
Diaper Bank & Safe Sleep Program
Two hands-on programs that meet caregivers’ most immediate needs — free diapers and wipes, and a safe place for infants to sleep.
Diaper Bank
Caregivers of infants and young children are provided with diapers (Size 0–6) and wipes once a month. Walk-ins only — E/BFSC has on-site diaper banks at two locations:

Safe Sleep Program
At E/BFSC, we believe every infant should have a safe place to sleep. We provide expectant parents and caregivers with a free cribette for their infant.
Caregivers must attend a 20–30 minute in-person or virtual safe sleep training. If virtual, you must be able to pick up the cribette in person.

Holidays at E/BFSC
Thanksgiving
E/BFSC serves our communities year round. During the Thanksgiving season, E/BFSC’s Community Engagement Team works alongside community partners, volunteers, and donors to ensure families in our communities can celebrate the holiday with dignity and joy.
Through coordinated outreach and resource distribution, we provide Thanksgiving meals and essential holiday food items to families in Wards 5 and 6 — strengthening families, reducing stress during the holiday season, and creating opportunities for community members to come together in gratitude and support.
Holiday Support
Adopt-A-Family
Our Adopt-A-Family initiative brings together generous donors, partners, and community members to directly support families during the holiday season. Through this program, individuals, organizations, and businesses “adopt” a family and provide gifts, essential household items, and holiday support tailored to that family’s needs.
This initiative not only helps meet immediate needs but also reinforces the spirit of community care and connection — helping families feel seen, supported, and valued during the holidays while strengthening the network of support that helps families thrive year-round.
Please note: families must already be involved in our programs to qualify for Adopt-A-Family. This program is not open to public referrals.
