Adopt-A-Family 2025 FAQ
We will be opening the interest form for donors in early November! Please continue to check our website for updates.
Yes, if you would like to adopt more than one family, please indicate this on your interest form.
After an interest form is completed, we will contact you within 3 business days with a family for whom you will shop. A list will be provided with the requested gifts and interests of the family to guide the shopping experience. Gifts are to be wrapped and labeled with each family member's name(s) and family number.
Yes! If you have adopted a family, gifts should be wrapped/placed in gift bags. Each gift/gift bag should be labeled with the recipient's name and family number. Please ensure the family's number is labeled in a visible place so staff can sort gifts with ease when organizing.
If you adopted a community or are donating loose gifts, these items do not need to be wrapped.
All items must be new, unopened items.
To qualify for a staff pick-up, the gifts should be more than a standard car full and/or multiple large items (bikes/scooters/furniture, etc.) Pickups must be scheduled by contacting Gabriela Pointer, gpointer@ebfsc.org, or by phone 202-550-0773. Staff pick-ups are only available on Friday, Dec 5th, or Saturday, Dec 6th. We are unable to receive gifts via the mail.
You can drop off gifts from 10:30 am-3:00 pm, Monday, December 1st- Wednesday, December 10th. We are offering extended hours on Wednesday, December 3rd & Wednesday, December 10th until 6:00 pm.

While we commend the sentiment, at this time, donors are not able to deliver gifts directly to our families.
Businesses, groups or organizations can be involved in adopting families as well. In addition to completing the interest form, for any questions, contact our engagement team Kristine DuPree at kdupree@ebfsc.org and Gabriela Pointer gpointer@ebfsc.org.
All gifts are due by December 10, 2025. We operate our Holiday Store the week before Christmas. This year, it will be held on December 15th - December 18th.
Yes, all donors will receive a Donation Record Form when they are matched with a family. We encourage our donors to complete the form as they are purchasing gifts. If the donor would like to receive a signed record, please submit the form upon delivery of toys to E/BFSC. E/BFSC's Partner and Development Director will review the form, sign it, and return it within 5 business days of receipt.
There is no set minimum spending requirement per child. However, we strive to provide donors with carefully curated wish lists that offer a variety of options at different price points, allowing for meaningful contributions while remaining mindful of budget considerations.
Of course! Other opportunities to give this holiday season include:
- Contributing to our End-of-Year Fundraiser
- Donate loose toys/gifts to be given to children in our target communities
