With the growing number of homeless families in the District of Columbia, there has been a significant increase in the number of young mothers between the ages of 20-25 who are homeless and entering the shelter system. In response to this crisis and growing trend, the Edgewood/Brookland Family Support Collaborative (E/BFSC) in partnership with the Ionia R. Whipper Home (IWH) is resuming programming at the historic 2000 Channing Street, NE property. The program is designed to provide short-term family housing and stabilization services for up to 6 months and aftercare support for 6 additional months, or longer if needed. The families will reside in a setting with individual bedrooms and share general living space.
